In response to the Obama administration’s announcement that the P5+1 negotiators have reached an agreement on Iran’s nuclear program, Congressman Mike Bishop (MI-08) issued the following statement:

“Our nation cannot afford to play games with the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism. Members of the House and Senate will carefully review these parameters, but we have every reason to question a ‘deal’ that seems to give up so much and demand so little in return.

“Lifting sanctions while allowing the Iranian regime to simply slow their nuclear operations – in addition to not releasing the three Americans held captive under their watch – sends the wrong message to the world and is downright dangerous. I will remain highly skeptical of any deal without stronger provisions.”
