“Representing this district and state means fighting for our families – and that includes getting the people of Flint the long-overdue help they need," said Bishop.

In the final House votes of the year, Congressman Mike Bishop joined in passing the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act (S. 612) and government funding legislation (concurring in the Senate amendment to H.R. 2028). The two measures were approved with strong bipartisan support.

“These votes were about securing Michigan priorities,” said Bishop. “Representing this district and state means fighting for our families – and that includes getting the people of Flint the long-overdue help they need. We are finally about to make that happen.

“The Great Lakes are an important focus of these bills, as well. Formally authorizing the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative allows us to protect our environment for future generations to enjoy. We’re also investing in water infrastructure projects, which will make a big difference for Michigan jobs and the economy.

“There was no going home without getting all of this done. The Better Way agenda sets the right tone for 2017 and I’m looking forward to being part of that effort.”
