"The people of Flint want solutions, and this bipartisan legislation starts that process," said Bishop. "I applaud my House colleagues for coming together on this bill to ensure we are focused on long-term investments in the Great Lakes, as well."

Following House passage of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA), H.R. 5303, Congressman Mike Bishop issued the following statement:

“My family and I have spent our entire lives in Michigan, and what happened in Flint is heartbreaking and wrong. Since the news of this crisis broke, our delegation has never felt this is a Republican or Democrat issue; we are all on board to help. Blaming people doesn’t fix anything. The people of Flint want solutions, and this bipartisan legislation starts that process.

“I applaud my House colleagues for coming together on this bill to ensure we are focused on long-term investments in the Great Lakes, as well. From reauthorizing our Great Lakes Restoration Initiative to securing priority funding for our waterways, this legislation takes the right steps to protect Michigan priorities.”
