Today, the Supreme Court ruled 4-4 in United States v. Texas, thereby upholding a lower court’s decision that President Obama’s executive action to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants is unlawful. Congressman Mike Bishop (MI-08) issued the following statement in response:

“This decision is a win for Michigan and the 25 other states that joined the effort to stop the president’s executive overreach on immigration. It is the role of Congress – the people’s representatives – to create and change our laws, which even President Obama repeatedly told us in the past. We have a duty to abide by the Constitution as our Founding Fathers intended, and that’s what this decision rightly concluded.”
