Rep. Bishop Honors Service of More Than 160 Vietnam Veterans at Ceremony

March 29, 2016
Press Release

HOWELL, Mich. – This afternoon, Congressman Mike Bishop hosted a special ceremony for Vietnam War veterans in Michigan’s 8th District to receive the congressionally authorized Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin in commemoration of the war’s 50th anniversary. The event brought together more than 160 veterans and their families from Ingham, Livingston and northern Oakland County.

“It was a true honor to present our Vietnam War veterans with this special token of our nation’s appreciation,” said Rep. Bishop. “Their dedication to serving in our nation’s longest war was selfless and courageous, and they deserve much more from our country in return – including better care and assistance. Our veterans represent the very best of America, and I am eternally grateful for their service.”

In addition to honoring the 8th District veterans for their Vietnam War service, Congressman Bishop discussed issues with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and legislation Congress is working on to demand action and better care for veterans across America. Michigan National Guard General Mike Stone assisted with the pin distribution, and hundreds of family members and local officials attended the event in support.
