Bishop Comments on EPA Rule’s Impact in Michigan

May 27, 2015
Press Release

WASHINGTON – In response to the EPA’s announcement of the final “Waters of the United States” rule, Congressman Mike Bishop (MI-08) issued the following statement:

“The ‘Waters of the United States’ rule is another gross overreach of the Obama administration’s authority. Allowing an outside, federal entity like the EPA to have its hands in local tributaries and waterways – including the Great Lakes – would stifle the local and state governments that understand them best. That’s why the House already passed a bill, the Regulatory Integrity Protection Act of 2015, to block this impending rule. We cannot stand by as our business, agriculture and hometown communities are threatened by more big government. As a firm supporter of our Great Lakes, I will work with my colleagues on addressing this unnecessary burden.”
